Segments grew 3 percent in the Americas, 4 percent in Europe and 18 percent in Asia-Pacific. Parent Travelport earned $22 million in the quarter, down from $39 million in 2009. Net revenue grew 1 percent to $598 million. 7 June 2010 The Millennium Foundation today officially launched the Massivegood program for corporate travel channels. Designed to collect "micro-contributions" from travelers when they book airline flights, hotel stays or car rentals as part of the effort to fight HIV/Aids, malaria and tuberculosis, Massivegood has secured commitments to facilitate corporate travel donations from travel management companies American Express Business Travel, BCD Travel and Carlson Wagonlit Travel, and online booking tool providers Amadeus (e-Travel), iFAO (Cytric) and Sabre (GetThere). "Companies now have an easy way to demonstrate commitment to global health with the launch of Massivegood's corporate program, which lets them integrate a simple donation solution into their corporate travel systems," according to a Millennium Foundation statement. 4 June 2010 HRG Germany partnered with local business travel booking and agent technology provider onseto for an "integrative online booking infrastructure [that] connects companies with their travel agencies" and suppliers. "Offering a data and transaction administration, onesto is an online solution for realizing a standardized online booking infrastructure," according to onesto's site. HRG separately owns a corporate self-booking solution and other technology, which it recently decided to market to other distribution providers. 31 March 2010 Travelport extended its 15-year relationship with ATPI Group through a "new long-term agreement" covering global distribution system services in 13 countries including Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Norway, United Kingdom and the United States. According to Travelport, "the agreement includes the provision of technology and solutions to marine travel specialist Instone International," which ATPI Group acquired in 2009. 22 March 2010 GlobalStar Travel Management added as partners ANTA Travel in the United Arab Emirates and Al Bateel Travel in Qatar. According to GlobalStar, ANTA Travel--a subsidiary of Dubai's ETA Ascon & Star/Al Ghurair Conglomerate--has annual turnover of $206 million and 220 staff. Created in 2007, Al Bateel Travel has three offices in Doha and connections to the Galileo and Sabre global distribution systems. 16 March 2010 Travelport and Etihad Airways reached a five-year distribution agreement. The carrier will provide access to its full range of content and inventory for travel agencies connected to the Galileo and Worldspan global distribution systems. 8 February 2010 Travelport extended its agreement to provide electronic ticketing capabilities to Chinese global distribution system TravelSky. 19 January 2010 The Millennium Foundation for Innovative Finance for Health in June plans to launch the Massivegood program for corporate travel, according to its Web site. Massivegood will enable travelers when they purchase travel services to contribute to the fight against diseases in developing countries. It is being facilitated by Amadeus and other global distribution system providers. "We are actively working on finalizing the solution to meet corporation requirements to enable companies to match" employee contributions, according to the Millennium Foundation site. "We hope to integrate many large companies to boost the number of donations." The group wrote that "the first countries where we will launch are definitely in the United States, the United Kingdom and Germany," and explained "the solution can be embedded in the regular booking system for airline tickets and other travel reservations, enabling it to be a seamless part of the travel buying process." 11 January 2010 Former Wyndham Hotel Group SVP for global sales and distribution Greg Land joined Radius as SVP for the Americas. Land will "manage the Radius agency network in North and South America while directing sales, account management, supplier agreements, targeted marketing activities and other strategic corporate relationships," according to Radius.
4 January 2010 ANA, Continental Airlines and United Airlines asked U.S. regulators to approve an antitrust-immunized transpacific joint venture. The "metal-neutral" agreement would encompass sales, marketing, scheduling, distribution, pricing, loyalty programs and other functions, and position the three Star Alliance partners to pursue "joint bids for government and corporate contracts."
